Choose To Hold Your Peace…

Chrisitan Perspectives Comments Off on Choose To Hold Your Peace…

Exodus 14:14 (KJV)

“The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

In life, we’re always going to have critics.

We’ll always have difficult people who try to upset us and steal our peace and joy.

But, you don’t have to respond to every critic. You can decide to take the high road and let God fight your battles for you.

Sometimes, no matter what you say or do, there are people who aren’t going to accept you. They just don’t want to be at peace with you.

In fact, when Jesus sent out His disciples to certain homes, He told them to always speak peace over those homes.

And then He said, in effect, “If they don’t receive the peace that you’re offering, then it will come back to you.”

That tells me, if you will do your best to be at peace with people, even if they won’t take your peace, the good news is that peace will just come back to you.

You’ll not only get your peace, but you’ll get their share as well!

That’s double for your trouble!

When you do the right thing no matter what is happening, God sees it and rewards it.

So choose peace today and walk in the blessing He has for you!

Father in heaven, I choose to hold my peace.
I choose to do the right thing even when the wrong thing is happening.
I trust that You are fighting my battles for me.
I give You all the honor and praise and choose to walk in peace today in Jesus’ name.

Created To Live In Peace…

Proverbs 19:11(KJV)

“The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression”

Every day, we have opportunities to get upset, be frustrated or get offended.

Maybe you had plans that didn’t work out, or someone was rude to you at the office. Maybe you were doing something that should have taken one hour, and it ended up taking three.

Life is full of inconveniences, but even though we can’t always control our circumstances, we can control our reaction. I heard somebody say,

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond.”

We should always go out each day with a positive attitude, full of hope and expecting God’s favor. But at the same time, we should recognize that most days are not going to go exactly as we planned.

Remember, we were created to live in peace.

Peace is our position of power. If you get stressed because you got off schedule or upset because your child wouldn’t eat his breakfast, or frustrated because somebody offended you, you’re are giving away your power.

Instead, make the decision to release those offenses and disappointments so you can live in peace and enjoy the day as a blessing God prepared for you!

Father in heaven, today I release every care, concern, offense and disappointment to You.
I choose to keep the peace that You have given me.
I look forward to today knowing that You are with me and leading me in victory in Jesus’ name!

Blessings In Good Time…

Psalm 40:1

I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

Practicing patience is hard work!

This is especially true when we are waiting upon the Lord, who keeps to His own timetable. But believers who trust God to deliver are richly rewarded with the desires of their heart.

A person’s willingness to wait reveals the value of what he or she desires.

Imagine, for example, a young woman who yearns for a husband. She must decide whether to place greater importance upon a) getting married or b) waiting patiently for a mate chosen by God. If her priority is the former, she may accept an offer that is less than the Lord’s best for her.

The fellow in question might be a good Christian but not a man suited for this particular young lady.

No one goes wrong waiting for the Lord to send His best in His perfect timing. Of course, believers don’t receive everything they request. At times God simply says no. In other cases, He adjusts our desire to match His own.

In our humanness, we can’t possibly know all the details of a situation. So we ask for what we think we need, based on our limited information.

A submissive heart accepts the omnipotent Father’s gentle redirection. When the awaited object of desire comes, it may not look like what the believer originally requested, but it will be exactly what he or she needs.

Waiting patiently on the Lord is an awesome witness.

When He responds, others see the reality of God, His faithfulness, and the wisdom of our commitment. In addition, our own faith is strengthened.

Fools rush to seize their prize. But wise believers know that blessing will come in God’s good time.

He Knows Your True Value…

1 Peter 1:6-7

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

On two separate occasions, the Bible records that Satan petitioned the Lord to test a believer (Job 1:6-12; Luke 22:31-34).

In both cases, God agreed. The Devil did his best to break the faith of first Job and later Peter, but he failed both times.

Do you suppose that Christ and Satan have ever discussed you?

I think most people are too humble to assume such a conversation has happened. So let me ask the question a different way: Is your life making an impact worth talking about?

I had to ask this of myself—am I serving God sufficiently to make Satan feel threatened?

Preachers and missionaries aren’t the only people who make the Enemy nervous.

Any believer who is determined to obey the Lord is a threat to the Devil, particularly when sharing the gospel.

God calls on you to witness to certain people because you have just the right knowledge, story, or temperament to reach them. Fearing that the unbeliever might choose salvation because of your testimony, Satan gives you plenty of opportunities to fail. He hopes you’ll be too discouraged to continue serving the Lord.

The Enemy would like nothing better than to thwart God’s plan for believers’ lives by undermining their faith.

That being the case, we might all be surprised how often our names pass between Jesus and Satan!

Although you may think you aren’t important, God knows your true value.

Friend, as a Spirit-filled believer, you have amazing potential to serve the kingdom. Satan sees that, and he will try to make you stumble.

Who Gets Your Time And Attention?

Chrisitan Perspectives Comments Off on Who Gets Your Time And Attention?

Psalm 119:37 (KJV)

“Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.”

You have to be very selective about what you give your time and attention to in order to live the life of victory God has promised.

You have to recognize which thoughts to ignore, which comments to ignore, and sometimes, which people to ignore.

Every “battle” that comes across your path is not a battle that you’re supposed to fight. Many battles are simply distractions to try to lure you off course.

If that battle is not between you and your God-given destiny, it’s a battle you should ignore.

Many people get thrown off course because they are always trying to straighten everyone else out or win their approval.

If that’s your focus, you are wasting valuable time and energy that you should be using to pursue your dreams.

Turn away from that distraction!

You don’t need the approval of everyone around you; you only need God’s approval!

Friend, it’s very freeing when you realize you don’t have to fight every battle.

You don’t have to straighten people out.

You don’t have to pay somebody back.

Instead, focus on what matters; focus on God and His Word so you will live in peace and happiness every day of your life!

Father, thank You for ordering my steps.
Thank You for planning good things for me.
Help me to discern the things I should ignore.
Help me to avoid distractions as I focus my heart and mind on You today in Jesus’ name.

How To Respond To Suffering…

Chrisitan Perspectives 1 Comment »

James 1:5-8(KJV)

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
At first glance, today’s passage on wisdom doesn’t seem related to the subject of trials, but James is actually continuing His thoughts from the previous three verses.

We need wisdom to know how to respond to suffering.

This means we should see trials from the Lord’s viewpoint and understand His purposes in allowing them in our lives.

If you want to profit from struggles, be sustained in them, and come through with joy and victory, you must be persuaded of the following truths:

1. God is in full control of the timing and intensity of your trial and will not allow it to go beyond His boundaries.

2. He has a specific purpose for your suffering which you may not understand until it is over.

3. This trial will prove to be profitable if you submit to God and trust Him through it.

4. Trying situations are opportunities for faith to prove genuine and grow stronger.

5. When you endure extreme pressure with unexplainable peace and joy, the Lord will demonstrate His sustaining power to a watching world.

6. Your difficulties are used by the Father to produce Christ-like character.

7. God will walk with you through all trials.

8. The Holy Spirit will enable you not only to survive but also to come out a conqueror.

If you believe all these principles, they will shape how you respond to difficulties in your life.

This perspective eliminates the negative reactions normally elicited by trials and makes supernatural responses possible.

Instead of feeling miserable and hopeless, you’ll experience amazing peace and joy.

In The Right Standing With The Almighty…

Chrisitan Perspectives Comments Off on In The Right Standing With The Almighty…

Isaiah 26:7, (KJV)

“The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.”

Being righteous means that we are in right standing with Almighty God.

It’s a very powerful, spiritual position. When we choose Jesus, we choose righteousness. But, we have to make the decision to live righteously each and every day.

Righteous living is simply following God’s ways.

It is the evidence that we have faith in Him. When we follow God commands, it proves that we believe Him. It keeps our faith alive because faith without action is dead or useless.

Not only that, righteous living keeps us growing in God and closes the door to the enemy.

It makes our prayers powerful and effective.

When we honor God and His Word above all else, it pleases Him, and He promises to make our way smooth.

Today, take time to search your mind and heart.

Be determined to live, think, speak and act the way God does! Invite the Holy Spirit to reveal to you any areas that need adjusting.

Let His righteousness flow through you today so you can keep your faith alive and move forward into the abundant life He has for you.

Father in heaven, I commit to You every area of my life — my mind, my will and my emotions.
Reveal to me anything that isn’t pleasing to You.
Show me Your ways so that I can walk with You and live righteously all the days of my life, in Jesus’ name.
