Proverbs: 19:20 (KJV)

20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

God often uses other believers to strengthen, encourage, and enrich our lives.

Despite countless negative influences around us, we can still find wisdom through the counsel of godly men and women.

A wonderful example of this is the prophet Nathan in his confrontation with King David. (see 2 Sam. 12:1-14). God uses Nathan to bring His servant, David to repentance.

Although the intense conviction greatly pained David, it was absolutely necessary in order for him to regain the right relationship with God.

The Book of Proverbs teaches us repeatedly to seek out godly council (see Prov. 12:15; 13:10, 15:31; 19;20).

We must be careful that the person giving us counsel is in step with the Lord.

While we are fellow travelers on the path toward good wisdom, we would be wise to lean on each other for support along the way.
