Nothing Is More Profitable…

2 Timothy 3:14-17 (KJV)

14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

This world offers financial plans, weight loss programs, and a host of other opportunities that all claim to yield beneficial results.

But nothing is as profitable to us as Scripture.

God’s plans for you do not stop at salvation.

His goal is that you become conformed to the likeness of His Son, and the tool He uses to achieve His purpose is the Bible. Today’s passage outlines His comprehensive program for your spiritual transformation.

The foundation is laid with the teaching of Scripture’s basic truths. These doctrines about God’s character and work anchor our souls during the storms of life and protect us from deception.

Since we all have certain flesh patterns, perfection is impossible, and we sometimes fall into sin.

But when Scripture offers reproof, we are convicted about our wrongdoing.

This is followed by correction.

The Lord never convicts us and leaves us in the mess we have made. He provides what we need to make things right.

The final step is training in righteousness.

Think of this as a one-on-one discipleship course with the Word of God. If we heed the instruction and discipline of Scripture, we’ll grow in obedience and godliness and eventually will find that we need less reproof and correction.

Full participation in God’s scriptural benefit package involves three steps:

Read the Bible each day; believe everything God says in His Word—not just the parts that appeal to you (Heb. 4:2); and do what He says.

You will become equipped and qualified to fulfill His purpose for you.

Truth will prevail…

 Galatians 1:6-9 (KJV)

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

The Word of God is truth that’s living and able to penetrate human souls (Heb. 4:12).

Consider how powerful Scripture is: It can change hearts, save lives from eternal condemnation, and give hope to the hopeless.

Is it any wonder, then, that the Bible is a battlefield of Satan?

The devil will do his best to destroy its message and twist its truth. In fact, this has been our enemy’s continuous goal since he chose to turn from God.

Our heavenly Father has graciously let us know in advance the outcome of this ongoing battle: Truth will prevail.

But while the Lord has the ultimate victory, Satan can gain ground among individuals. His tactics are dangerous and deceptive to the unsuspecting. For this reason, we should carefully guard against his attacks, which are hard to recognize unless we are prepared.

False teaching is one of Satan’s preferred tactics for leading us astray.

At first glance, such instruction often seems to align with Scripture, but do not be misled by the deception. Two things are essential for standing firm against these slippery falsehoods: to be well grounded in the truth of God’s Word and to listen to His Spirit. Only then can we recognize the error and avoid the pitfalls of the enemy’s lies.

Satan longs to mislead believers so they’ll be ineffective for the kingdom.

He also wants to keep all unsaved souls far from salvation in Jesus Christ. Friends, prepare for battle.

Grow in the knowledge of truth, and lean on God’s Spirit to guide you moment by moment.

Strength and Hope For The Soul…

 Psalm 145:1-13 (KJV)

1 I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.
2 Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.
3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
5 I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.
6 And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.
7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.
8 The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
9 The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
10 All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee.
11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;
12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.
13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

When difficulties arise, what’s your main focus—the problem, its impact on you, or its effect on others?

David’s writings reveal him following God’s plan for meeting troubles: meditating on the Lord’s sufficiency and will.

The result was strength and hope for his soul.

The focusing of mind and spirit on the Lord is a critically important discipline in the believer’s life.

Through the Psalms, David not only poured out his troubles to the Lord but also continually turned his attention back to the Father. God is always at the heart of biblical meditation.

Circumstances can be valuable prompts for meditating if we match a character quality of the Lord to our dilemma.

Because David’s relationship with God was built on trust, his instinct was to deal with trials by anticipating divine help and victory. For example, his impending fight with Goliath brought to mind God’s past and present deliverance power (1 Sam. 17:37). Facing a different kind of danger—King Saul’s murderous threats and advances—David chose to dwell on the attribute of protection: he visualized God as his refuge and fortress (Ps. 91:2). Mourning the loss of loved ones, he allowed God’s presence and comfort to fill his heart and mind (1 Sam. 30:3-6).

Our main resource for meditation is the Word of God.

Throughout its pages, His character, works, and purposes are clearly displayed. When the next difficulty comes, use it as an opportunity to meditate on some aspect of our triune God.

From this will come strength and hope to sustain you.

The Urgency Of Our Need…

Chrisitan Perspectives Comments Off on The Urgency Of Our Need…

Psalm 25:12

12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

How can you be sure you’re making the right decision?

Sometimes it may seem as if God plays hide and seek when we’re trying to know His will, but that’s not the way He operates. He wants to give us clear direction. The real question is, What do you need to do to hear His voice?

Clear the pathway.

We have two main obstacles that hinder our discernment: sin in our life and our own strong desires about the situation. To receive the Lord’s guidance, we must repent of all known sin and make our desires secondary to His.

Exercise patience.

Sometimes it takes a great deal of strength to stand still when everything within you is shouting, “Hurry! Time is running out!” But if you rush ahead of God, you may miss His will.

Persist in prayer.

The Bible clearly instructs us to keep coming to the Lord with our concerns. As we continue to pray, He will gradually weed out anything confusing until we come to His conclusion about the matter.

Search the Scriptures.

The Word of God has an answer for every need, and the Holy Spirit knows just how to point us in the right direction. I remember times while I was reading the Bible that a verse jumped off the page and supplied the exact answer I needed to make an important decision.

So often when we’re faced with a critical choice, all we want from the Lord is a quick answer. But He delights to meet with us in order to deepen our relationship with Him.

Don’t let the urgency of your need keep you from enjoying the intimacy of His presence as you seek His will.

The Ability And The Power…

Chrisitan Perspectives Comments Off on The Ability And The Power…

Romans 12:2 (KJV)

“ And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

If you watch television for any length of time, it won’t be long before you see products and pills advertised to make you thinner, smarter, younger looking, more successful and ultimately claim to change your life.

The truth is all you need in order to change your life.. it is already in your hands.

God has given you the ability and the power to be transformed into the person He created you to be.

I heard somebody said, “Sight has to do with what we can see, but vision has to do with what we can be.”

The reason some people are stuck at the same level is because their vision is limited.

They don’t see themselves growing, increasing, being promoted or getting healthier.
All they see is more of  the same.
More lack.
More struggle.
More defeat.

They’re producing what they’re seeing.

Friend, don’t let that be you!

Instead, let the Word of God wash over you and renew your thinking.

See yourself the way God sees you.

See yourself rising higher.
See yourself becoming stronger, healthier and wiser.

Change the picture you have of your life, and you will change your life.

See yourself the way God sees you and receive the wonderful blessings He has in store for your future!

Today’s Prayer

Father thank You for the seed of the Word which will not return void in my life.
I receive Your truth which sets me free.
Help me to see my life the way You see it so I can boldly embrace the blessings You have in store for me in Jesus’ name.

He Will Reveal Himself To You…

Chrisitan Perspectives Comments Off on He Will Reveal Himself To You…

Psalm 85:8 (KJV)

“I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.”

No matter what is going on in your life right now, the Lord promises that you can have peace.

It doesn’t matter what’s happening in the economy, in your relationships or at the office; nothing in this world can take His peace from you. But notice the first part of this verse — we have to do our part.

We have to listen to what He tells us to do.

You may be thinking to yourself, “God doesn’t speak to me.” But once you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you become His. The Bible says that you are His sheep, and you can hear His voice, and the voice of a stranger you will not follow.

The Lord speaks in many ways.

First of all, He speaks through the Word of God.

But sometimes He speaks through the encouragement of a friend, or through a song, or in the beauty of nature.

Sometimes it’s a simple “knowing” deep down on the inside of you in your spirit. If you aren’t sure how God speaks to you, ask Him to teach you.

Open your heart and be willing to hear His voice. As you take time to be still and listen to Him, He will speak.

He will reveal Himself to you and give you peace all the days of your life.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise of peace. Today, I open my heart to You and ask that You teach me to hear Your voice clearly.
I will listen, I will obey, and I will walk in Your ways, in Jesus’ name.

Standing Firm In Faith…

Chrisitan Perspectives Comments Off on Standing Firm In Faith…

James 1:6, (KJV)

“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.”

Are you believing that God will do something specific in your life today?

Oftentimes, when we are standing in faith, the storms of life will blow. Things will come against us that try to knock our faith down. But, I to encourage you to stand strong in your faith and in your thinking so that you can be effective and see your dreams and desires come to pass.

Scripture tells us that if we go back and forth on what we believe, we are unstable and ineffective.

Instead, we have to be fully persuaded that the Word of God is true no matter what we see. The way you stand firm in your faith is by staying focused on God instead of your circumstances.

Sing praises to Him throughout the day and guard the words that come out of your mouth. When you stand firm in your faith, you have peace. You have a supernatural rest because you know God is in complete control. You trust Him completely. Today, stand firm in your faith, watch your words, and know that He is leading you into victory in every area of your life!

Father God, today I praise You and honor You because You are God.
I put my faith and trust in You knowing that You are working behind the scenes in my life.
Thank You for making a way when there seems to be no way and opening doors of victory in my life.

In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Are You Asking For What You Desire…

Chrisitan Perspectives Comments Off on Are You Asking For What You Desire…

John 15:7, (KJV)
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you

It pleases God to give you the desires of your heart!

He wants to see you  happy, whole, strong and enjoying His blessing. When you make the Word of God your number one priority, when you stay connected to Him through prayer and worship, God promises that He will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 tells us again that if we delight ourselves in Him, He will give us the desires of our hearts. One of the root definitions of the word “delight” means “soft.” This gives the picture of us being soft and moldable,  like clay, in the Potter’s hands.

As we allow Him to shape and mold our character, as we yield ourselves to Him, our thoughts become His thoughts, our words become His Words, and our desires become His desires! That’s how we can ask whatever we will because our will is in alignment with Him!

Today, don’t allow the distractions of everyday life keep you from spending time with Him. Abide in Him and let His Words abide in you because He will give you the desires of your heart!

Heavenly Father, today I submit every area of life to You.
I invite You to have Your way in my heart.
Mold me and make me as I surrender every area of my life to You.
I praise You and give You all the glory.
In Jesus’ Name.
